"--Greetings and salutations--"

A small breeze could be felt as Uyeda slowly paced through the town of Magnolia. He would be stuck here for a few more days at least, before he would leave and head to the next town to work there and see what kind of stuff he could muster up. Maybe he would get a few steps closer to finding his real identity but who knew? He let out a small sigh as he sat down on a bench, unknowing of what he was going to do today. He didn't really have anything specific to do so maybe training was his best option. He wasn't entirely sure if this place had a training ground though.

He stood up, moving away from the bench and approached a local that he had seen walking around a lot. "Hey, do you happen to know if this place has any kind of training ground? I can't seem find it or find anyone that knows." the man, with seconds, pointed hastily towards the highest point of Magnolia and laughed "Don't worry about. If you're looking for the training ground, I was the right person to come to. It's up that hill and along the first right that you'll encounter. It's a massive training ground though, so be careful. There's some real monsters training up there..." Uyeda simple shrugged the last part off and thanked the man for telling him where it was. He slipped his mask onto his face and made a hasty spring towards the top of the hill and to the right.

As he approached the training ground he was stunned by it's size and it's design. The guy before obviously wasn't lying. Another thing that caught Uyeda's eyes were the amount of fights going on within the training ground. Some were petty fights that would make people laugh and others were crazy fights that people would seriously dread getting involved in. Uyeda shrugged once more and walked towards the first free field that was available. As he stepped on, he was given the choice of natural training or simulation. Well, he could do simulation but he was never a fan of things that didn't actually exist, so he stepped off the field to see if he could find a partner.

As he looked around, he didn't notice that many people. A few were people that couldn't use magic and the ones that could, looked evil. He groaned before taking a quick jog around the training grounds and eventually he saw someone that didn't seem too bad. Uyeda wasn't sure if he used magic but he figured that he had nothing to lose by asking. As he approached the man, he would say with his mask still on "Hey, you want to do some training? I'm not really into the whole simulation thing, so a partner is what I'm looking for... You don't have to of course, just wondering."

Castus rolled his shoulders, loosening his muscles as he mentally went through his selection of arms. It'd become harder as of late to keep track of things. Most of the time, he defaulted to several favoured pieces, leaving much of his extensive collection unused. He summoned a weapon, arm outstreched, palm down. He could feel the faintly warm grip of the Vopral Sword in his right hand, closing his fingers around its ornate hilt. The blade itself was a very light grey-ish silver almost like mercury. It seemed to shimmer as if it was both 'there' and not 'there'.  It was a true work of art, unique even, as far as Castus was aware. Crafted by alchemists for the very purpose of fighting magi. Instead of harming the body, the blade cut straight through the soul, severing the a mage's mana supply at its source. He turned the weapon in his hand and made several tentative slashes and cuts. It was incredibly light for a weapon its size, a testament to the actual blade's ethereal nature. The real weight was in the hilt and this took some adjustments on Castus' part.

Just as he was getting into the motions, a young man approached him from behind. Castus turned as the question was raised. He looked the person over, scrutinizing every detail. Masked but clearly male, roughly ten years younger. A bit lanky, probably still not completely finished growing. Castus looked from the man to his blade, and back. 'Practice huh? You know what, you came just at the right time. I've been meaning to try a few things out. How about you tell me your name and we get started right now. If you think you're up to it, of course. You can call me Castus by the way.'

Castus took a couple of paces back, letting the sword hang loosely by his side as he struck his defensive pose. The man's timing had been impeccable. Castus was eager to try out his Vorpal Sword and what better way than to duel a mage. At least, Castus assumed his opponent was a mage. No one would fight using a mask if they didn't completely rely on magic. It would impede one's sight too much, creating potentially fatal blind spots. As he readied himself, Castus brought forth another piece of equipment, encasing himself in a full suit of knightly armour, its plates bright and shining. Using his off-hand, he removed the helmet, tossing it to the side. This was to be a friendly duel after all. He'd given his opponent a big advantage already by revealing his particular skill set. A helmet wasn't going to matter.

His armour rattled as he moved. 'I'm ready when you are. Why don't you show me what you got.' Castus grinned. He was in a good mood and the fight was only going to improve things. He gripped the sword in both hands, striking the traditional 'plow' stance. Legs braced, sword at waist height, the tip of the blade pointing up diagonally towards his opponent.

"--Well, that's some nice armor you've got there!--"

Uyeda gazed at the man stood in front of him. The man definitely used magic or Uyeda assumed it was magic at least but it wasn't one he had seen very much, so he quickly scanned a book he had in his pocket. The book was called "Types of magic" and Uyeda was almost certain it was requip magic but he didn't want to just think it was that because that would be giving himself a weakness that he didn't need.

"Castus? That's a pretty cool name. I'm Uyeda, Uyeda Keiji. And, sure. Let's get started now." the boy paused as he looked at the man and he smiled behind the mask "That's some pretty neat equipment you've got there, though." Uyeda figured it'd only be fair if he let the man see his face as they went into a fight. The mask dropped towards the floor and as it was about to hit the floor Uyeda's foot came into contact with it, then launching it towards the man hopefully blocking his sight of Uyeda slightly. Uyeda, with a smile on his face, would quickly form his sword for the first time in a real battle and he would run towards Castus, grabbing the mask as he caught up to it. The mask would be put on his face again as his hands went back to maintaining the sword and in a quick, swift motion he would aim the sword for Castus' chest.

In this situation, he didn't really know what to expect but he knew the sword wouldn't actually do anything so as the sword would come into contact, he would dis-spell it and with a second swift motion, would attempt to roundhouse kick Castus' temple before jumping back quickly. The armor and sword made Uyeda cautious but he didn't entirely know why, it was just like one of those things that made people scared even if they weren't aware of why.

"Okay, your turn. Let me see what you've got." he would say, as he quickly ran everything he just did through his head. He definitely could have pulled it off better. The sword could have been aimed somewhere else and instead of using a physical attack he should have followed up with a second magical attack because physical attacks are his weakest type.

He gave a slight sigh and then got into a defensive position. His hands would be raised up to protect his face and his lower body would seem somewhat unprotected but he had a counter for if he was attacked there. The boy then went into a crouch and slammed his hands into the ground in front of him. The mask on his face would come up as he tilted his head up towards Castus once more. He called this position "The shell". Unoriginal but it usually worked.

Castus raised his sword in a brief salute at the compliment before returning to his original stance. As the mask flew at him, Castus took a few steps back, instinctively giving ground as to have more room to manoeuvre. Rather than parrying, Castus side-stepped the first blow of the sword. The kick caught him square in the chest, forcing the air out of him although hitting the armour like that would have most likely sent a jarring pain through his opponent's leg. Castus steadied himself, his feet finding purchase in the grass as Uyeda retreated a few paces away.

'Not bad kid,' Castus said, slowly approaching, flourishing his sword in one hand. 'But your form is sloppy. You telegraph your attacks.Makes it easier for me to guess where that blade is going.' As he spoke and moved closer, he balled his left fist, conjuring a circle of swords, orbiting around Uyeda like a crown. Castus took another step and the blades darted at their target at once, coming down at a sharp angle. It was a signature move for Castus by now. He'd drive his enemy into corner, make them panic before the real blow came. In the split second the swords rained down, the Mage Hunter accelerated, dashing forwards, bringing his sword up, cutting down diagonally, leading with his right hand before reversing into a horizontal backstroke. If it hit, the blade would pass through armour, clothes and flesh without a trace of resistance, making it an awkward weapon to wield, especially given the blade's length. Instead, it would cut at  target's very essence, severing a part of his mana supply in pair of fell cuts.

After making his attack, Castus backed away again, giving his opponent time to recover and steady himself. It was a duel after all and he saw no need to end it on the first strike he'd normally would. Instead, he struck a relaxed stance, eyeing his opponent. 'Misdirection and feints within feints. That's the mark of a true warrior.' he grinned, winking briefly. His voice was calm and level. There was no malice or arrogance in it. More like that of an instructor, demonstrating and explaining his actions. 'Now that we both know what we're capable of. Let's see if we can't kick this up a notch. Be creative, unpredictable. I'm sure I can handle it. Let's go!'

"--Not bad, not bad!--"

A sharp pain surged through Uyeda's foot as it came into contact with the man's chest piece. It certainly wasn't for show, that was definitely clear. However, the kick at least got to Castus and wasn't just a one-sided attack which eased uyeda a little. As he waited for Castus to take his turn, he liked the compliment he gave him but listened to the part about being sloppy. He took this into consideration and would plan his next attack slightly better.

A few seconds later, a array of swords appeared around Uyeda, blocking all of his non-airborne routes. That was a slight pain but he would deal with it somehow. The boy would observe all the blades coming at him and would drop his mask once more. This time, into his bad. A big smile could be seen on his face. As the swords closed in, he would attempt to slide under the side closest to Castus and as he was, he would quickly slam his foot off the only blade he could reach and hopefully send it flying in Castus' direction. Even if it didn't hit, he would have the slight chance that while the sword was up, he could get one more attack in quickly.

Of course, the sword wouldn't actually go towards Castus' which made his plan slightly better. A small orb could be seen forming in his hand and when finished five disks would be seen in his hand. He threw the first one, making the sword slant down towards Castus, but it just slowed down. The second one slammed into the hilt of the sword, increasing the acceleration and a third smashed into the hilt again and increased the acceleration once more. The last two discs were launched towards Castus' himself.

"Time to apply the last part of the plan!" and as he said that, a spear that was a meter long and seemed to be made from solidified water was made within his hands. It wasn't Ice, just solid water. He took a few paces towards Castus and launched the spear with all his strength. A sword, two discs and a spear. They wouldn't do much damage but if at least one hit him, then he could use that moment of shock to get one last attack in. Unfortunately, Uyeda lacked magical power and (Though, unstated anywhere in this post) Castus' sword had also cut through him, doing what seemed to sever a slight amount of his magic, which was actually quite annoying. Uyeda, went onto his knee, reading himself again for Castus' to bring it or in case one of the attacks hit. If so, he would rush forward and attempt to give a haymaker to the side of Castus' face, then proceeding to do a second roundhouse kick to his temple once more. It would probably hurt if the foot hit the armor again.

Castus cursed mildly under his breath as the attack was turned against him. It wasn't so much he feared his own weapons as it was a matter of annoyance. He dispelled the entire circle of swords as abruptly as he'd summoned them well before they it hit him. This left him to deal with only the discs and the spear no coming at him. He took the discs square on his chest, trusting the armour to hold against the attack. It was almost enough to stagger him but he continued moving, ducking around the spear. The first punch caught him square, stunning him momentarily as the kick landed, knocking Castus side-ways.

Staggering, Castus regained his footing and took a few paces backwards to create more distance. He let go of the vorpal sword and it disappeared before it hit the ground. Instead pulling out a rather nasty looking flanged mace. The weapon was made out of a dark metal, giving it a rather ominous look. Castus weighed the weapon in his right hand. It felt awkward, heavy even as he was used to more nimble weapons such as swords and spears. In addition, he dismissed the armour he was wearing, instead cladding himself in a suit of even heavier armour. Gleaming pieces of metal, covering his body. A large, ornate gorget stuck out, covering most of Castus throat whilst his shoulders were protected by layered plates that rose into a smooth section protecting much of his neck. This time, however, he kept his helmet on. A relatively small and round piece with only the eye slits standing out.

Rolling his shoulders, the armour rattled and Castus took a few steps forwards. The sudden shift of weight was strange but he compensated quickly. He approached his opponent steadily, not planning on evading any attacks but rather backing his opponent into a corner before striking. He flourished the mace once, twice, before shouldering the head with a clang. His boots crunched on the grassy ground until he was in range. Castus moved quickly, even for someone wearing heavy armour, a legacy of his time as an Argent Claw. He bull-rushed his opponent, shoulder first in an attempt to force Uyeda to back away or otherwise defend himself before he swung the mace. The heavy, flanged head flew through the air in a wide, horizontal arc first, the backstroke going upwards diagonally before Castus finished the attack with a one-handed downwards blow, looking to slam his opponent into the ground.

As he completed his final attack, Castus stayed close to his opponent, rather than backing away. With his change in equipment came a change in approach. He had to now use his bulk and protection to keep his enemy on the back foot. 'You're getting the hang of it now,' Castus said, his voice sounding slightly warped and metallic as he spoke through his helmet.

"--That's not fair!--"

The boy's attacks chained quite nicely and caused Castus to get knocked sideways. That was good. A win in Uyeda's book for the first combo-chain he had ever got. However, that didn't mean everything was fine and dandy because the man obviously came ready for a fight. As Castus dropped his sword, Uyeda would give out a small sigh of what seemed to be him fed up.

This sigh was followed by another, deeper and more meaningful sigh when the bigger set of armor was summoned around Castus. Oh, he also had a pretty cool looking mace as well. And, Uyeda wasn't sure if it was to stop himself from getting kicked in the head again but now the man had a helmet on that only had one noticeable feature. The eye slit. This was definitely going to be a difficult that was for sure.

As Uyeda would plan a strategy for dealing with this guy Castus had begun running with the heavy armor. Of course, you wouldn't think people could run that fast in armor like that but this guy didn't seem to be having very much of a prob;em with that because he was already running at a pace that a lot of people couldn't run at and he was in armor. This guy was absolutely crazy. When Uyeda picked a fight he didn't expect to get some crazy guy who could summon armor and then run in it like it's absolutely nothing. A groan came from him and as the man got closer, Uyeda would jump back trying to avoid the barge but before he could really react, the mace came swinging around and, though barely dodging it, he ducked quickly, shooting back up the second it passed but the man's downward assault had worked this time and Uyeda was sent down with a lot of force. A heavy jolt would be felt throughout Uyeda's neck as he hit the ground and attempted to stand again.

As expected, the boy got onto his feet again and would watch Castus. He didn't back away and the fight was no longer distanced. The man was probably going to take advantage of the massive armor and use it to push Uyeda back while swinging that dangerous looking mace around. The situation wasn't pretty at all but Uyeda had to come up with something. He wasn't going to win if he couldn't at least get a feel as to what the armor was like so he would signal at Castus once more, telling him that he can go again. Uyeda was doing this because right now, he wasn't entirely sure on how to beat him and if it meant getting hit, he would do it to find out how.

The really annoying part about all of this was that the second he found out how to beat the armor, Castus would probably change it again and swap his strategies up. Though, the chances of Uyeda coming up with an effective strategy to beat it was quite unlikely.

The armour rattled as Castus lifted his arm again, sweeping the mace in a wide arc to clear out his opponent. It wasn't a strong attack per se, nor was it very accurate. It wasn't supposed to connect, only scare. As he recovered from the swing, Castus took a few paces back, allowing his opponent some room now that he'd virtually checkmated him just a few moments prior. Resting the weapon on his shoulder, he took a moment to observe his opponent, head cocked slightly wondering if he'd brought too much to bear on the man at once. 'Alright then, if you're still up for it,' Castus replied at his opponent's obvious challenging gesture.

He took a couple of steps, speeding up again like he'd done before, charging his opponent, his heavy footfall crunching the ground underneath. He came in with his shoulder this time again, trying to knock Uyeda back before attempting to land a mailed-fist across the man's face. He would follow up with an attack to the legs, aiming the mace at back of Uyeda's knees, trying to hook the weapon in to make joint collapse. If the blow connected, he'd try and land another blow with his left hand, square in the chest this time. A rather effective way to knock anyone off balance.

Castus backed away again, removing his helmet, tucking it under his arm, he wiped the sweat of his brow, grinning. 'This is turning out to be quite the fight, huh?' he asked, slightly out of breath. He inhaled deeply, then released the air before replacing the helmet, rolling his shoulders, making the plates grind against each other and the bits of chain underneath. 'Why don't you see if you can get through this?' Castus asked, thumbing his chest with a mailed hand. 'I'm sure you must have some trick up your sleeve. It's only armour,' he chuckled.

"--A perfect plan--"

As the man rushed towards him for the second time, in an attempt to bring him down, Uyeda would stand perfectly still and get ready to execute his plan. With a big smile on his face, he placed his mask on and went into a slightly slumped over position. The man came at a good speed and the first attack was a punch, followed up by a mace to the back leg and another punch to the chest. Perfect, something he could try and counter with his plan.

As the first punch came, Uyeda would slam his fist into the man's hand. This would maybe hurt him but it would definitely hurt Uyeda, and did as heard by a loud "Crack". When the mace came swinging by, Uyeda would make an attempt to jump, still in pain, and bring his right foot into Castus' helmet while doing so. He would fall backwards doing this but because of this, the fist would simply push him down and not cause too much damage to him. As he dropped to the floor, he would push up on his hands and his legs would come around Castus' neck, then the kid would shift his center of gravity towards one direction in an attempt to bring the man to the floor.

Of course, there was a lot that could go wrong with this and Uyeda was ready to counter the worst things but he knew that this was about as much as he could do against this man. He was definitely strong and not a mocking opponent which made the fight so much better and interesting. As Castus brought his helmet off to speak, Uyeda would agree and then laugh. "Yeah, it's not too easy though. Some pretty thick armor you've got there. You're a lot stronger than I expected as well. It'll be an interesting conclusion.

Upon the end of his sentence, he would quickly slam his foot into the ground and kick up a good amount of dust and dirt, kicking it towards Castus' voiding his visual sense for a few seconds, or hopefully doing so. As this happened, Uyeda would take advantage of the situation and make a bit of a risky move. Running from the side of Castus, circling back to the front, he would drop to his hands and slam his two feet directly into Castus' chin/chest, hopefully stunning him a little, though while hurting Uyeda. After this, Uyeda would quickly get to his feet again and roundhouse kick the helmet once more, with this left foot, sending a loud cracking sound through it, as he dropped to his knee but he didn't have time to stop. If Castus' was stunned by either move, Uyeda would form a spear in his palms once more and attempt to aim it directly for Castus' chest.

He hopped back, as to not get instantly hit by a counter attack and spat out a little blood. He was using his own body to try and get through the armor.

When the spear is thrown at an opponent, it will keep its shape and if it hits the opponent, it will keep the properties of a spear and hurt them but if it misses or is hit by anything on the way, it'll just fall apart into a puddle that isn't usable.

Their punches met, Uyeda's hand against Castus' mailed fist, resulting in a nearly bone-breaking crack. Next came the punch which was rapidly dodged and Castus felt the impact of a foot against his helmet, dazing him slightly as his fist met his attacker, sending him down towards the ground. As Uyeda tried to grab Castus' legs between his legs, he'd find little purchase on the armour, allowing Castus to shake him off with a jerk of head head and shoulders. Still standing, he took several paces backwards before his opponent kicked up a cloud of dirt. Staggering back, Castus tried to recover, ducking his head between his shoulder plates, catching the following kick square on his left shoulder. The spear however, did pierce the armour, cracking it at chest level.

Content with its performance thus far, Castus dismissed the armour as well as the mace he was carrying. He backed away and instead selected his personal favourite weapon Arondight. The magical sword shone brightly as he summoned it before diffusing into a faint glow. It was in many ways a perfect weapon. The blade was about a meter long and the grip was large enough to effectively wield the weapon either one- or two-handed. However, the real reason Castus preferred this weapon was simply because of its comfortable, light weight. He whipped the sword to the side and then raised it to a two-handed stance. Eyeing his opponent, he considered the ideal approach before he attacking. As he attacked, Castus' feet moved instinctively, accurately. His first strike was a minor cut with the very tip of the weapon, meant to goad his opponent before he continued, this time trying to get in a blunt attack with the flat of the blade, slapping it down hard into Uyeda's side. As he got closer, he followed up with a pommel strike at the chest before trying to create some distance between the two of them.

However, as he backed away, he summoned the another weapon, this time in the air behind his opponent. The midnight black spear seemed to slip out of nothing before speeding down, in an attempt to hamstring and or pin his opponent to the ground by spearing his left calf. 'Not bad,' he said, lowering his sword in a provokingly low guard. 'But I'd really advise against kicking people in armour.' he smirked. 'You'll just end up hurting yourself.'Briefly, Castus considered using another piece of equipment, a shield perhaps, or another set of armour but decided against it. This seemed to be going well and he'd enjoy the lack of weight for a change, allowing him to move much quicker than he normally would, wearing armour most of the time.

Castus eventually ended the exercise, dispelling his equipment. Although winded, he was still some way from being tired. His opponent seemed worse for wear however. For a moment, Castus wondered if he shouldn't have gone as hard on the young man as he had but he wanted to try out a few new weapons and combinations. In the end, it had been too much of a good opportunity to let pass. Castus rolled his shoulders, rubbing his muscles. The weight of heavy armour had begun to make itself felt. He’d be sore before the end of the day. It was part of getting accustomed to new equipment. A burden to he was more than willing to bear. He was particularly pleased with his new gear. Finally, all those long days of searching for rare weapons and armour were paying off.

After briefly thanking his opponent for the practice and apologizing for the beating he gave, Castus left the field, heading back into to town, looking to find something to eat. It was getting late after all and such exercise made a man hungry.
